Saigon still has a young brunch ‘scene’. There a few, firm favorites (which we love) that have been around for a while like L’usine, Au Parc and The Vintage Emporium. However there has been nothing SO on trend that people are actually queuing to get a table and the chance to snap ridiculously insta-worthy food and interiors. We highly recommend you phone ahead and book until (or even if) the craziness dies down.
Effortless chic is taken to a whole new level with the interior of Godmothers. The baby pink walls combined with the velour green chairs and the plants give the place a definite 1950s, ‘Mad Men’ feel. The tables have marble tops and metal finishes and even at capacity there isn’t a ‘crowded’ feeling because of the smart table organisation. It is definitely an ‘elevated’ experience in terms of atmosphere and you can’t help but feel that you are dining among Saigon’s style elite.
The management and servers are very on the ball, even accommodating our ridiculous bill-split requests without a complaint. The food is served on stunning crockery and the theme of uncomplicated sophistication runs through every element of the dining experience. Their menu includes a unique range of juices and smoothies and the brunch offerings are in a league of their own when compared to other brunch cafes in the city. There is something for everyone (including the vegetarians and vegans!).
We were a table of four in a packed restaurant and we waited no longer than 15 minutes for our meals. The food was sublime. The food presentation sets the bar high and the taste experience does not disappoint. The duck and waffles is exceptional and everyone in our party was in agreement that although the prices may be higher, the overall experience and quality of the food makes it one hundred percent worth it.
