“Being healthy is a privilege, not an effort”
We have been buying La Holista snacks ever since we discovered them at a (now sadly closed) Organic grocer in Thao Dien. We especially love their energy balls (the coconut ones are actual heaven) for an afternoon pick-me-up or a pre-workout fuel situation. Over time they have continued to expand the range of products in their online shop, selling everything that is delicious and good (for you!) including hummus, nice-cream, brownies, breads and more. All of their products are plant-based and healthy when included in a balanced diet. Plus everything we have tried tastes incredible. Seriously. We don’t understand how ‘ice cream’ made from cashews tastes that legit. They also have a healthy lunch and dinner service which we didn’t try but which does look, shocker, very good. Are you sensing a theme here? Basically just major La Holista fan-girl vibes.
The South African was to be in the guinea pig in this La Holista experiment, and she needn’t have been asked twice. It was so hard to choose what to try because everything looked so fabulous but there are only so many days in a week so we eventually narrowed it down. This is what we ordered: Ginger Kombucha, Organic Mango Chia Pudding, Organic Quinoa Salad, Hummus, Red Rice gluten-free bagels, Oat Cookies, Raw Mango Chips, a slice of Raw Carrot Cake and a coconut nice-cream. We placed an order on the website and had the products delivered but you can also arrange pick up at a time that suits you from their central kitchen in Thao Dien. Overall the Quinoa salad and the hummus were the crowd favs. The crowd being the South African because she definitely did not share with anyone. The crunchy, flavorful salad paired with some hummus and a bagel followed by a sip of Ginger Kombucha and some mango chips. Paradise.
La Holista is doing some great things. They are a business worth supporting because they are all about wellness – mind, body and spirit – and we are so on board with that. You don’t have to be a vegan to enjoy this ‘kind’ of food. You also don’t have to be a perfect my-body-is-a-temple instagram health guru. You can however, understand the options available to you and from there, make some choices. Take a look at their website or find them on Facebook and Instagram.
